Huawei’s upcoming Huawei nova 16 series could bring a broad baseline upgrade across the lineup, according to a new post from Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station highlighted by IT Home. The leak claims the full range will most likely move to the Kirin 9010s, though the source also cautions that performance still won’t overtake Huawei’s higher-end Pura line.
The same post says battery capacity may climb to around a 7,000mAh battery on the largest models. On the camera side, the top configuration is said to feature a 200-megapixel main sensor with a 1/1.28-inch outsole, a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera, and front-and-rear Red Maple imaging support.
There may also be a more affordable nova 16z variant, which the leak says could use a Kirin 8-series chip to help lower the price floor for the family. That would give Huawei a wider spread across the lineup while keeping the standard nova 16 branding focused on the Kirin 9010s upgrade.
Huawei has already shared official design images for the series. The new phones are being marketed around a summer-inspired look, with colors including Sky Blue, Iridescent Pearl, Horizon White, and Starry Black.
The company is scheduled to officially launch the nova 16 lineup on June 1. At the same event, Huawei is also expected to introduce a new MatePad Pro Max tablet and an Ultra Nova Watch, so the nova 16 family may be part of a broader hardware push rather than a standalone phone announcement.
