Huawei has officially introduced the new Huawei Pura 90, and the standard model stands apart from the Pro and Pro Max versions with a noticeably different industrial design. Up front, the phone uses a 6.8-inch centered pill-shaped display cutout, while the back switches to a slanted triangular camera module.
Huawei says the rear camera setup includes a 12.5-megapixel f/2.2 RYYB ultra-wide camera, a 50-megapixel f/1.8 OIS RYYB main camera, and a 50-megapixel 3.7x optical zoom f/2.2 OIS RYYB periscope telephoto camera. The phone also includes Huawei’s Red Maple color camera system.
One detail that helps separate this version from the higher-end models is the front camera arrangement. The Huawei Pura 90 includes a 50-megapixel selfie camera and an exclusive front-facing Red Maple color camera, a feature that IT Home says is not present on the Pro or Pro Max versions.
Battery capacity is another major talking point. Huawei equips the phone with a 6500mAh battery and 100W fast charging, while the body thickness is listed at 7mm. The company also says overall performance is 15% higher than the Pura 80 generation.
On the software side, the phone runs HarmonyOS 6.1. That gives the standard model the same current-generation system direction Huawei has been rolling out across its latest flagship devices.
Huawei has announced three storage variants for the device. The 12GB + 256GB version is priced at 4,699 yuan, the 12GB + 512GB version comes in at 5,199 yuan, and the 16GB + 512GB version is priced at 5,699 yuan.
Overall, the new Pura 90 looks like Huawei is trying to give the base model a stronger identity instead of simply making it a trimmed-down version of the Pro series. Between the revised exterior, the distinct camera setup, and the large battery, the phone has a clear position in the broader Huawei smartphones lineup.
