A new report says the Huawei Pura X Max has posted the strongest opening sales performance ever seen for a foldable phone from Huawei or any other brand. The figures, cited by Chinese outlet Wallstreetcn and relayed by the source article, point to a fast start for Huawei’s latest large-format foldable in the domestic market.
According to the report, the phone reached more than 70,000 activations on its first sale day. Cumulative activations then climbed past 110,000 after three days, topped 170,000 after seven days, and moved beyond 200,000 within the first ten days. The same report says those marks are all record highs for this product category.
As of May 4, the source says the Huawei Pura X Max was running 61% ahead of the Mate X7 over the same launch window and 45% ahead of the Pura X on the same timeline. Earlier market-share data cited by IT Home also suggested that the standard model, starting at 10,999 yuan, accounted for roughly 45% of first-week sales, while the Collector’s Edition, starting at 12,999 yuan, made up about 55%.
The device went on sale at 10:08 a.m. on April 25 as what the source describes as the industry’s first wide-format horizontal foldable phone. Pricing starts at 10,999 yuan for the 12GB + 256GB version and rises to 11,999 yuan for the 12GB + 512GB model. The Collector’s Edition is listed at 12,999 yuan for 16GB + 512GB and 13,999 yuan for the 16GB + 1TB version.
While these numbers come from third-party reporting rather than an official Huawei shipment statement, they still suggest that demand for premium foldable phones remains strong in China, especially when a new form factor lands with clear market attention. For now, the early takeaway is simple: the Pura X Max appears to have gotten off to a very strong start.
