Apple May Use a Waitlist for the New iOS 27 Siri at Launch, Report Says

A new report from 9to5Mac, published on June 5, claims Apple may use a waitlist system when the new iOS 27 Siri first becomes available. In other words, access would roll out in batches instead of opening to every eligible user at once.

According to the report, Apple has internally treated the iOS 27 Siri experience as both a “beta” and a “preview.” The company may announce the related features at its 2026 Worldwide Developers Conference, but not everyone would necessarily be able to try them on day one.

The outlet believes Apple is likely to launch and refine the feature at the same time, gathering user feedback as it improves the new version of Siri’s performance and behavior.

Apple has used a similar approach before. When Apple Intelligence arrived in 2024, users who updated to early versions of iOS 18.1 had to join an “Apple Intelligence waitlist” in iPhone settings before access was enabled.

The new Siri is believed to use a redesigned architecture. It is also expected to connect to Google’s Gemini model for the first time. That combination of architectural changes and external large-model capability means Apple will likely need to watch stability, response quality, compatibility, and privacy experience more carefully during the rollout.

For now, the waitlist detail is still based on reporting rather than an official Apple announcement. More information should become clear when Apple presents its WWDC26 software plans.
