Apple Says the iPhone 17 Lineup Has Become Its Most Popular iPhone Family to Date

Apple says the iPhone 17 lineup has become the most popular iPhone family in the company’s history so far. In remarks shared through a Financial Times interview, Apple finance chief Kevan Parekh said the series has helped push the iPhone’s global market share to a new high in the second quarter of 2026.

CEO Tim Cook said demand in the global iPhone market has come in well above expectations. According to Cook, the supply chain hasn’t been flexible enough to secure more components at the pace Apple would like, which suggests demand is strong but fulfillment remains constrained.

One of the biggest supply bottlenecks appears to be the chip side. Reports cited by IT Home say the A19 Pro and standard A19 processors are both supplied by TSMC, which is also pushing hard on AI-chip production. That shift in foundry capacity is reportedly making it harder for Apple to secure as much iPhone chip output as it wants.

Parekh also pointed to memory as another constraint. He said memory has been taking up a growing share of the bill of materials from the first quarter into the second quarter of 2026, adding another layer of pressure to Apple’s ability to meet market demand smoothly.

Taken together, Apple’s comments paint a picture of a product family that’s performing exceptionally well in the market, but also one that’s running into real component limits behind the scenes. If those supply issues ease, the iPhone 17 line could have even more room to expand its momentum.
