A new rumor claims that both iQOO and OnePlus are working on next-generation flagship phones built around a 2nm platform, with engineering prototypes already in development.
The information comes from tipster Digital Chat Station, who said the two upcoming phones will use a top-tier SM8975 or 8E6 Pro processor. IT Home notes that this is expected to refer to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro.
The report adds a little more context on OnePlus. A previously leaked OnePlus device using the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro is said to feature a roughly 6.78-inch 1.5K LTPO BOE custom flat display, an ultra-narrow LIPO-style symmetrical bezel design, a refresh rate that could reach 185Hz, and a custom touch IC. Based on those surrounding specs, the device is expected to be OnePlus’s next iterative flagship.
As a point of comparison, the currently available OnePlus 15 uses the fifth-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite mobile platform, packs a 7,300mAh battery, and includes a 6.78-inch flat display with a 2772 × 1272 resolution. Its screen supports smart switching from 1Hz to 120Hz, with up to 165Hz in some scenarios, and the phone also carries a 50-megapixel triple rear camera setup.
There are still no official launch dates, model names, or final specifications for either brand’s future handset. For now, this remains an early-stage leak, but it does suggest that both iQOO and OnePlus may be lining up aggressively spec’d flagship phones around Qualcomm’s next premium mobile platform.
