OPPO has started teasing its upcoming OPPO Reno 16 lineup with a new promo video, confirming that the series will launch on May 25 at 6:00 p.m. local time. The company also confirmed that singer Song Yuqi is returning as the spokesperson for the new generation.
Based on OPPO’s early marketing, the series is centered around a new “Heartthrob Star” color option. The finish is said to use a 3D floating-planet process, with visual elements inspired by planets and orbit rings worked into the rear panel. OPPO also says the entire lineup will come standard with metal middle frames, which gives the phones a more premium positioning than many mid-range rivals.
Earlier leaks cited by IT Home suggest the Reno 16 Pro test unit comes in white, black, purple, and green. That model is expected to feature a 6.78-inch 1.5K LTPO flat display with narrow bezels on all four sides, along with a MediaTek Dimensity 9500s chip.

The same leak says the Pro version could pair its chipset with a 7000mAh battery, 80W wired charging, and 50W wireless charging. Camera hardware is also said to be ambitious for the segment, with a 200MP HP5 large-sensor main camera, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera.
As for the standard OPPO Reno 16, the current rumor points to a smaller 6.32-inch 1.5K OLED flat screen. It’s also expected to use a Dimensity 8550 chip, a 6700mAh battery, 80W wired charging, and a similar 200MP HP5 main camera setup alongside a 50MP ultra-wide and 50MP periscope telephoto lens.
Nothing here is final until OPPO presents the phones on stage, but the early picture is pretty clear: the Reno 16 family is shaping up as a design-led release that also leans hard on battery capacity, camera hardware, and an upgraded materials story.
