Back in January, Jiang Chao, General Manager of RedMagic gaming phones, publicly criticized the industry for what he called a “ridiculous” lack of design originality. He argued that after copying the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Air, many brands are just recycling old lens modules with a new color, resulting in “aesthetic regression.”
Jiang Chao doubled down on his views today, stating that the current mobile industry still feels too much like it’s following Apple’s lead. He believes that gaming fans are a unique group with their own style and preferences, and a phone design must be truly distinctive to earn their respect.

Following the critique, he revealed more details about the upcoming RedMagic 11S Pro series. The new flagship will double down on the Deuterium Front transparent design, but with a major functional twist: it will feature an integrated liquid cooling system that is actually visible through the casing.
Beyond the internal liquid flow, the RedMagic 11S Pro will also feature nano-etched “star trail” textures to add more depth and layers to the transparent chassis. It seems RedMagic is determined to push the boundaries of what a high-performance gaming phone can look like in 2026.
