Xiaomi may be preparing a fresh return to India with two more phones aimed at very different buyers. A new report says the company is planning to introduce the REDMI Turbo 5 and the REDMI 17 5G in the market on June 18, alongside the expected Xiaomi 17T series.
The report, cited by IT之家 and originally attributed to Smartprix, says the move would mark Xiaomi’s first meaningful re-entry into the Indian market in roughly four years. If that timing holds, the company would be using one launch window to cover both performance-focused users and first-time 5G upgraders.
In China, Xiaomi introduced the REDMI Turbo 5 family in January as a new-generation performance line. The series was pitched around full-strength performance, and the Turbo 5 Max in particular was said to debut with a Dimensity 9500s chip and a massive 9,000mAh battery.

For India, the leaked details suggest the standard REDMI Turbo 5 could keep the same core positioning as the Chinese version. The phone is said to feature a 6.59-inch 1.5K AMOLED display and a MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra processor, which would place it squarely in the upper midrange segment.
The REDMI 17 5G, by contrast, appears to target buyers still using older 4G phones and looking for a more affordable path to 5G. The rumored spec sheet points to an LCD display, a Snapdragon 4-series chip, a battery larger than 7,000mAh, a 50-megapixel main camera, and a front-facing 8-megapixel camera.
If these details are accurate, Xiaomi is trying to widen its reach with one event: a more performance-driven model for enthusiasts and a battery-heavy entry-level 5G phone for mainstream upgraders. For now, the launch date and final specifications remain part of the leak cycle, but the overall strategy sounds very much like a calculated push to rebuild momentum in Xiaomi India.
