A Canadian user has shared a concerning experience on Reddit, reporting that her Samsung Galaxy S25 FE caught fire and exploded on her bedside table overnight. The incident reportedly caused minor burns to the user, filled the bedroom with thick smoke, and left burn marks on the walls.
According to the user, u/dgaf88__, she and her son were asleep when they were suddenly woken up by loud, rapid popping sounds. She described the room as looking like an “indoor fireworks show,” with glowing hot plastic and metallic fragments scattering all over her bedroom.
While the user suffered minor burns on her neck and singed hair, her son was thankfully unhurt, though understandably very shaken by the sudden Galaxy S25 FE explosion. The local fire department was called to handle the smoky scene. Samsung has already reached out to the customer to investigate, but no final resolution has been publicly shared yet.

The Reddit post did provide some useful context about how the device was set up before the fire. The user admitted that she left the phone charging directly on her mattress while inside a thick leather wallet case, which also contained loose metal coins. This setup likely restricted heat dissipation during the nighttime phone charging session.
Furthermore, while she used the original Samsung cable, the charging brick itself was a third-party charger rated at 20W. Although described as coming from a reputable brand, the combination of restricted heat dissipation and a third-party power adapter might have contributed to thermal runaway.
For now, this serves as a stark reminder of basic battery safety: avoid charging smartphones on highly flammable surfaces like mattresses, remove thick cases that trap heat, and make sure no metal objects are kept in close contact with a charging phone.
