Redmi Product Manager Suggests Some Older Xiaomi Phones May Qualify for Bigger Battery Replacements

A Redmi product manager says people who aren’t planning to replace their phones anytime soon may want to wait before making a decision, because some older Xiaomi models could eventually qualify for bigger battery replacements. The comment suggests Xiaomi may expand a support program that already exists for part of its recent lineup.

In the post, the manager said this won’t apply to every model, and that users still need to wait for more specific details. Even so, the message was enough to spark interest because it points to a practical way of extending the life of older Xiaomi phones instead of pushing users straight toward an upgrade.

IT Home noted that Xiaomi has already launched a battery upgrade service across the Xiaomi 13 family. That offer lets owners of the Xiaomi 13, Xiaomi 13 Pro, and Xiaomi 13 Ultra pay 189 yuan in total for an upgraded battery, including the part itself and labor. Based on the latest remarks, the same idea may eventually reach more legacy devices.

If Xiaomi does broaden the program, it would give the company another way to support existing users at a time when smartphone pricing pressure remains a real concern. For buyers trying to stretch the value of older Xiaomi phones, a larger replacement battery could be more appealing than switching handsets right away.
