Xiaomi REDMI 17 Series Appears in GSMA IMEI Database, Targeting the Entry-Level Market

A new report from tech outlet XIAOMITIME says the REDMI 17 series is getting close to launch, with early details surfacing through the GSMA IMEI database and internal code references. According to that report, Xiaomi is preparing the lineup as a budget-focused release aimed squarely at the entry-level market.

The report says the series includes two versions with the codenames “mist” and “zephyr,” tied to internal model numbers P19 and P19A. That points to Xiaomi working on separate variants for different network and regional needs rather than a single global configuration.

On the hardware side, “mist” is said to use a Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chip with 5G support. The database reportedly already lists a China model numbered 26021RN18C and an India model numbered 26021RN18I. Meanwhile, “zephyr” is expected to focus on 4G-first markets and may ship with a Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2 chip for broader global availability.

As for branding, the China version of “mist” is expected to launch as the REDMI Note 17R, while the Indian version could be sold as the REDMI 17 5G. The same device may also arrive under the POCO name as the POCO M8 Plus 5G. The “zephyr” model, on the other hand, is currently expected to launch as either the REDMI 17 4G or the POCO M9 4G.

Pricing is another sign of Xiaomi’s positioning here. The report places the series in the $100 to $150 range, which would keep the REDMI 17 series firmly in affordable territory and reinforce its focus on the entry-level market.
